Q. Who is Sir Underbelly?

A. I’m a husband and a father who lives in the northern suburbs of Chicago. I’ve got a mortgage and a car payment. I also love poker.

Q. Are you a professional poker player.

A. No way. I play in home games and on-line once in a while.

Q. What gives you the right to run a poker website? Why should anyone listen to you?

A. I’m in no way trying to tell people how to play the game. What I am doing is documenting my growth as amateur poker player and my attempt to balance work, family and poker. My hope is that there are other in the same boat as me and maybe we can learn together.

Q. Why should people go to this site and not others like 2+2?

A. 2+2 is a wonderful site and I go there regularly. Sites like that can be a little intimidating the some players who are not up to that level. And besides, this site is not just about poker strategy but about how to balance poker with a family.

Q. What is your hopes for this site? 

A. It would be nice to build up a small poker comunity of players who can grow and learn together.  I’d love to have more people contribute to this site.

Q. How can they get started?

A. They can register and leave comments. They can also email me and let me know they want to write a column. If I approve, I’ll post there email.

Q. And finally, Is your name really Sir Underbelly?

A. Ha! No. Underbelly is the name I use on-line when I play poker. It from the tern Soft White Underbelly which I use for my fantasy teams. It was one of the names the 70’s rock band, Blue Oyster Cult used before they were Blue Oyster Cult.
