As you know The NBA fined Kobe Bryant $100,000 on Wednesday for calling a referee a derogatory gay term. I am straight and if someone calls me straight, I don’t get offended. Why then to gay people get offended if you call them gay.

Well Bill, you are missing the big picture here. Oh wait, you are not missing the big picture, you are missing the whole picture. As far as I know, there is nothing wrong with calling a gay person gay. What Kobe did was use the term in a derogatory way, as if it is a bad thing to be gay. Therefore, the term “gay” is seen in a negative way, sort of like, you stupid because you are gay. That is why everyone is upset and rightfully so as far as Professor Willinois in concerned.

Once upon a time there was UHF television! This was before cable. For those that don’t know, UHF TV was were the lower class of stations existed. In Chicago we had WFLD – Channel 32, WCIU – Channel 26, and WSNS-channel 44. These stations still exist today but the low budget programing doesn’t compare to the way it was back in the 70.

On WFLD, there was a cheap but very humorous chow called Screaming Yellow Theater starting Svengoolie (local actor Gerry G. Bishop). Dressed in a bizarre, hippy style costume, would show old, “classic” horror movies, and do comedy during the breaks. The show ran from September 18, 1970 until late summer 1973. A writer for the show, Rich Koz, does a version of the show today, but for us old timers, it just isn’t the same.

On Aug 2, 1973, Gabe Kaplan, TV star on the late 70’s show, Welcome Back Kotter, and now a Poker play and poker TV announcer, appeared on the show. All the segments are on YouTube buy Fuzzy Memories! Here is the opening!

A friend, Marty Zivin added some information about Jerry.
“Jerry has been in San Diego since he left Chicago in the mid 70s. He owns a popular local restaurant and hosted a morning TV show. In 1988 I snagged some video of his show…sorry no sound effects (oww oww oww).”

Every Wednesday we at this blog try to bring you an another interesting blog for your entertainment. It is not easy! Now tell me if I’m wrong but the average blog . . .how do I put this . . .well, it really sucks!

The first type of blog, one that I come across very often, are the Youtube blogs. Now, while we here have been known to post a YouTube video or two, we try not to use them as a crutch. So many blogs, Youtube is there main source of information.

Next we have the personal blog. Some guy or girl thinks, for some self delusional reason, that others would be interested in their personal life. These are the blogs that die a painful and slow death, as they slowly get tired of relaying there boring ass daily life to the masses. We can only hope that by typing out there daily experiences, these people will learn that their life is just as fucking boring as everyone else’s!

Of course we  have the money making blogs. Your tired of working for the man and you think how wonderful it would be to cash in on this internet thing. This is the new gold rush! Do you know who made money during the gold rush? The guys who sold picks, shovels and map, the prostitutes, saloons, and the thieves. Do you know who’s making money on the internet? The guys who are telling you how to make money on the internet, the porn industry, and those who are stealing other work (remember the YouTube blogs?).

Review blogs are one of the few that I give a little praise to. People who actually have a love of something, like films or books, who take the time to really give their readers the benefit of their opinions. The problem is, even with the best intentions, it is really hard to write quality reviews.

My favorite sites are those that “tell it like it is” These always get me laughing. The arrogance of some people to actually, not only think they know the truth, but think that give a damn. While scanning for interesting blogs, I found a sub heading that stated “You ain’t gotta like me, you just mad cuz I tell it how it is and you tell it how it might be.”

Oh I could go on and on. I haven’t even scratched the surface. really, however, I know we at the Nation are just a guilty of all the things I’ve mentioned here, and are nothing more than you average delusional hypocrites!
