My trip down memory avenue continues as I remember The Funny Company. These 6 minute cartoon shorts featured the voice talents of Dick Beals, Robie Lester, Nancy Wible, Ken Snyder, Tom Thomas and Hal Smith.

In all, there were 260 episodes made possible by The Mattel Corporation and were produced by Ken Snyder and Charles Koren.

The show centered around a bunch of kids in a clubhouse and was intended as educational programing. The kids were always looking for good deeds to do. A villain, Belly Laguna, would attempt to stop them but the kids would always prevail.

The writing was poor and the animation was dismal. Each show featured a few minutes of educational live action footage. The clubhouse was run as a corporation and the tallest, whitest male was in charge.

The creators of this cartoon would go on the produce Roger Ramjet, a better, funnier cartoon.

Of course Adam Smith played the dead guy, so I’m not sure he should be listed as “Staring” but that’s just me!

hi you can see a film clip of john ciampa on a hbo film called gizmo it has lots of old clips from the 1920 30s 40s of all kind people doing stunts and inventions the clip of john is from a paramount news reel 1942 its starts with him eating spagetti in is apt in brooklyn ny goes out side and does his stunts the last one is with kid on is back. the next man is arnim dahl i have film with paramount saying his name and old news paper stories of him thank you john jr son

The Film, Gizmo, directed by Howard Smith is available on 8 parts on YouTube and is a very entertaining film. I only wish it would explain more of how these people are.  Here is part 5, the section that has both John Ciampa and Arnim Dahl. As John Jr. explained, it starts with the spaghetti eating scene. This is a entertaining video a few people have put on youtube. The credit it to the 1930’s, but it is actually be reported as Arnim Dahl (March 22, 1922 – August 3, 1998), a German stuntman. This footage was probably sometime in the 1950’s.

Arnim Dahl was one of the first stuntmen in German television. Besides numerous performances as stuntment in films he performed as host for programmes in sixties’ television. Arnim Dahl tells about his work as a film artist and shows some of his daring feats at the studio. • Lay more than 40 times in a hospital, and had more than 100 fractures.
• Stayed in total more than 4 years of his life in a hospital.
• Jumped from a 47 meter high crane into the water of the Hamburg harbour.
• Was the double of the moviestars in more than 50 films.

I would have more to say about this stuntman but every search I do just brings me pages in German.
