Invasion from Inner Earth (1974)

theyThis “film” was called “They” on the DVD I was watching. It was another in the a Mill Creak 50 pack. This film has to be in the running for worse film ever! Wow! This is one of those films that make you wonder, how could any make a film this bad? I don’t think you could even do it on purpose!

It’s a basic plot of is of a killer disease brought from space by aliens, which is spread using little smoke bombs (like we had when we where kids), wiping out all life on Earth except for five people in a remote cabin. Most of the film concerns the five people slowly figuring out what is going on. Clues? A red light that appears again and again, colored smoke, and a mechanical voice on the short wave radio.

I didn’t put the end of the film on the clips! You might have to go and see this if you want to see a real cheesy ending!

I can take the poor script, bad acting and silly effects, but what I can’t take is the lack of humor, either intentional or not. I mean, that is why we watch these inept attempt at film making, to laugh. This film is just boring! Oh wait, the dramatic, deep, emotional ending did cause me to chuckle! In fact, the end is sure proof that director Bill Rebane (who also starred in the epic) and writer Barbara J. Rebane took the absurd story way too seriously!

This is one of these films that might be good with a bunch of friends and lots of beer. I watching it early in the morning and almost put be back to sleep.
